Learn How to Get the Weather Report

If you or your group is ready to go the next step beyond the Baofeng Option you are invited to learn the SDR/JS8 Setup we are currently developing.

The idea is to reliably communicate a long distance message (The Weather Report) to local setups (rigs) that are inexpensive and relatively easy to establish.

The system we are developing involves software defined radio (SDR) with a digital radio platform (JS8 Call). It is relatively easy to get up and running if you are already comfortable around computers and software. There is no cost to get started. Just simply follow the instruction on this webpage and then let us know how you've made-out.


We are developing a 3 phase adoption

There is no cost to get started. Phase One of the Setup is to use you computer and the Internet instead of a radio. With Phase Two you can receive the Weather Report directly with a simple and inexpensive rig. In Phase Three you can also transmit messages on the Weather Report network with some upgrades to your rig (and a license).

Hello Folks,

This is an important development that requires urgent action. It solves a key requirement in building the network.

Our Hams have been working on how to connect the communities together, to find a simple, cost effective way for someone in each local community to receive messages from the long distance network.

This is important and we ask for your involvement and support.


The message is primarily for the more computer-savvy in the group. You don’t have to be a ham but you should be comfortable with computers..

The Hams have figured out a configuration using SDR (software-defined radio) and JS8Call which would enable someone in each community to receive a digital message from the HF network.

The first iteration would cheat by using the Internet for part of the connection, which would then be replaced with an SDR doggel to take you off-grid.

We are asking that all Hams and computer-savvy folks join in a zoom call to learn more, especially how to make it happen.
