Chirp and Programming Your Radio

Picture
Chirp is an open source program that makes it possible to program your radios. It's like a spreadsheet.

You can download the free Chirp software here:
https://chirpmyradio.com

You will need a cable to connect to your laptop so you can download the file onto your radio. You can order them here:
https://www.uhuru.info/order-form.html

Below are Chirp files for different parts of the country. If you need a Chirp file for your part of the country, we can create that file for a small fee. Contact us for more details: [email protected]

This page also includes some basic instructions on how to use Chirp to download pre-programmed frequencies/channels into your radio.

Start by downloading the open-source Chirp software to you computer:
https://chirpmyradio.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Home

Then follow these instructions:
  • open Chirp
  • open the .img file that you will be copying from (the Base file)
  • Select All and Copy
  • plug your radio into your cable using your programming cable
  • turn on radio
  • select Radio/Download and follow the Wizard  (should open a new tab)
  • save that file for future reference (aka Target file)
  • place cursor on first position and Paste (it should replace everything in that open tab)
  • go to Settings tab (next to Memories tab in secondary nav bar))
  • select Basic Info
  • change Display B to ‘Name’
  • select Radio/Upload
  • check your radio to see that the programmed channels/frequencies are there (you need to be in Channel mode)
