Chirp Instructions
Following are the instructions for programming your HT (handheld transceiver) using Chirp.
Start by downloading the open-source Chirp software to you computer:

Following are the instructions for programming your HT (handheld transceiver) using Chirp.
Start by downloading the open-source Chirp software to you computer:

Then follow these instructions:
- open Chirp
- open the .img file that you will be copying from (the Base file)
- Select All and Copy
- plug your radio into your cable using your programming cable
- turn on radio
- select Radio/Download and follow the Wizard (should open a new tab)
- save that file for future reference (aka Target file)
- place cursor on first position and Paste (it should replace everything in that open tab)
- go to Settings tab (next to Memories tab in secondary nav bar))
- select Basic Info
- change Display B to ‘Name’
- select Radio/Upload
- check your radio to see that the programmed channels/frequencies are there (you need to be in Channel mode)
- NOTE: Don't save Target tab because you will overwrite what was in the Radio originally
- Test the Radio
- Have fun.
