Intent:
To develop and implement a protocol to ensure the privacy and security of members of the Uhuru/HAMnet Emergency Comms Network and their member organizations, as well as the information being shared, using readily available techniques and equipment.

Protocol:
Member Identities and Contact Info, as well as shared information, will be protected in the following manner:
- all new members must be sponsored by an existing member
- the new member’s sponsor will be noted for future reference
- any collected information will be kept as secure as possible
- first names and/or initials and/or nicknames will be used in lieu of full names
- this should apply on Zoom calls
- ideally locations will be identified
- this should apply on Zoom calls
- members will avoid discussion of controversial subjects on line
- individual members will be responsible for connecting directly with other members when appropriate
- members will be encouraged to use a secure email platform (eg protonmail)
- all email notices/invites will be sent BCC
- consideration will be given to using a more secure meeting platform (alternatives to Zoom)
- consideration will be given to using other secure platforms as appropriate (eg Signal, Telegram)
- radio communication will be discreet and use ‘legal’ code where feasible and appropriate
- measures will be developed to avoid triangulation and other outside detection methods
- all new members will receive this protocol document upon joining
